With sport horses, there comes a time when they have earned a well-deserved rest from their years of hard work and service. Just like humans, horses also reach their twilight years where their bodies tire and their needs change.

Our mission is to ensure that fully retired horses receive the love, care, and attention they need to live out their lives in happiness and security.

Brawley Farms is also a top level hunter/jumper barn, traveling to horse shows and competing across the country. Every horse, whether they are in work or retired, receives tailored care depending on their specific needs.

We have a great team of equine professionals that look after all of our horses, including a fantastic vet, top farriers, trainers, and caretakers who all work together to ensure that each horse is provided with the highest quality of life. They regularly monitor the horses' health, administer medications if needed, and carefully design individualized nutrition plans to meet their dietary requirements.

Your horse will receive:

  • Customized feeding program including grain 2x/day; soaked feed provided for horses with dental challenges

  • Feeding of owner provided supplements (Salt and Electrolytes included in board)

  • Free choice high quality hay

  • Fertilized and irrigated pastures with comprehensive fly predator program

  • Large run in sheds cleaned daily

  • Group turnout with a maximum of 5 horses per group

  • Scheduling of farrier and vet

  • Scheduling of dentist 1-2 times per year

  • Holding for vet, farrier, and dentist

  • Arrangements for chiropractic care, massage, and acupuncture

  • Blanketing; turnout sheet (no fill) and turnout blanket (200g) provided by owner

  • Staff on premises 24/7

Run in shed and hay hut for retired horses.

Wellness Care

(Billed Separately)

  • Deworming 6 times per year

  • Annual vaccinations and coggins performed by vet

  • Light daily medicating as needed; medications billed back to owner

  • Treatment of injuries; minor cuts or scrapes treated at no extra charge

  • Sheath cleaning

  • Blanket cleaning and minor repairs as needed

Each new horse is evaluated within 30 days of their arrival to see if they are compatible with the herd. If they do not seem to fit with the group, we will discuss other options with the owner.
